If you’re getting an in-ground pool, the two options available to you from Rhine Pools are concrete and fiberglass. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, although when all is said and done, concrete presents more choices in terms of design. Still, it’s worth it to consider all of your options. When it comes time to make the choice between concrete and fiberglass, Rhine Pools can help you decide which is best for you and your situation.
Concrete pools are constructed with a blend of cement and sand mixed with water. This mix is applied to a steel reinforcement in the ground where it is allowed to settle and dry to form your pool. The steel reinforcement can be shaped in any number of ways, making it ideal for creative and unique pool design. Concrete pools can include a number of features, including spillover hot tubs, infinity edges, gradually sloping beach entries, tanning shelves, benches and more. Because of concrete’s flexible design, it’s also more viable for installation in situations with challenging topography. Fiberglass Pools
Fiberglass pools are pools constructed from a pre-formed fiberglass shell. A hole is dug in the ground to the dimensions of the pool, and the pool is simply dropped into place. This installation is slightly faster than that of a concrete pool, which must be allowed to settle and harden. The shells come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but aren’t as customizable as concrete pools and don’t offer as many design options. However, fiberglass pools are easy to maintain, and can be accentuated with features such as coping, diving rocks, LED lighting, and automatic covers.
