A fire pit might not have the same iconic look as a fire place but you can get more friends and family around and warm on a chilly night Every now and then during the colder months it’s nice to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. The problem is, that air is freezing cold, especially once the sun goes down. The best way to get outside in winter and stave off the cold is to build a fire, but you’ll need somewhere to put that fire. At this point you need to ask yourself, is a fire pit or fireplace better for your property?
Fire Pit
A great aspect of fire pits is the ability to enjoy them from all sides. Set up a few chairs, invite over a couple friends and relax around the fire without fighting for warmth. Generally speaking, fire pits are less expensive and easier to install than outdoor fireplaces. Obviously, each build is different, so this might not always be the case depending on the intricacies, placement and operation of your fire pit.
Fireplace
Fireplaces have an iconic look that’s undeniably charming. It evokes feelings of home, comfort and relaxation. The biggest downside to an outdoor fireplace is the area that you can sit and enjoy it. While you might get more people around a fire pit, you’ll get more direct heat from a fireplace since the firebox (where the fire actually is) directs heat out of the opening and towards anyone in front of it. A fireplace will protect your fire from wind and direct the smoke up and away from your guest, two things you won’t get with a fire pit.
