Ever wanted a behind the scenes look at what pool construction in Maryland looks like? Everyone is familiar with the finished product, but not many people know what a pool under construction looks like. In this week’s blog, we’ll take a look at one of our pools currently under construction in Maryland from its inception to where it currently stands. We’ll keep up with this pool in future blogs so you can see how it progresses and what the beautiful finished product looks like. And remember that just because it’s summer, doesn’t mean you can’t build an in-ground pool in Maryland. The mild fall weather allows building to continue past the summer.
A Look Behind the Scenes at Pool Construction in Maryland
Breaking Ground
Here we see the first stage of the process once design and blueprints are complete. Breaking ground on your pool is always an exciting time in your project! Click the photos for larger images.
Installation of the Mold
Once the ground has been dug out to the specifications of the pool, it’s time to install the mold. The mold is a metal frame that will be used to reinforce the concrete which will form the base and walls of the pool. Note the additional mold that will serve as the framework for the spa, pictured below.
Application of Gunite
Once the mold is in place, it’s time to apply the gunite. Gunite is a type of concrete mix that will dry and harden to form the concrete basin of the pool.
